And I’m staring at the pieces I don’t know just where they fit
I try to look for the horizon or try to find the corner bit
But the sky changes with perspective the edge it seems so far
I loose my patience I return to this old chair and my guitar

Because last night was getting colder all my friends had all gone home
I’m momentarily disrupted by the ring tone on my phone
And now I’m searching for the light switch I'm pinching at my arm and
I’m hoping desperately for the sweet relief of that 8am alarm

I always knew that we were different and I thought that that was cool
But you know what they say you’ve fooled me twice now so maybe I’m a fool
And I wrote a song like this before I think you sung along
So it wont come as a surprise tomorrow morning I'll be gone

Cause I don’t know when I became a couch to sleep on when you’re in Sydney
A repair on your guitar, and a quick text to keep you busy
While you’re waiting at the bar I picked it up and it said you miss me but
I just wish it didn’t end like this

And I’m staring at the pieces I don’t know just where they fit
I try to rearrange them slightly try to squeeze them just a bit
But a shape made of four right angles it doesn’t fit in something round
I guess it's better if we leave them here just lying on the ground
